Founding Story
“In the early 2000s, I was working full time as a government contractor during the day and running fiber and copper cabling jobs at night, often until 10 p.m. What started as side work slowly grew to the point where I had to hire a few people just to keep up. By 2007, I realized I was making more from those late nights than from my full-time job, and in 2008 Ginger and I took a leap of faith and started LEK.
The beginning wasn’t easy—I quit my job, Ginger lost her job while pregnant, and there were plenty of sleepless nights wondering how we’d make it all work. But we pushed through. The most rewarding part hasn’t just been building a successful business; it’s been the freedom to show up for my kids—coaching their teams, going on vacations, sitting in dance recitals—and truly having the best of both worlds: a growing company and a present family life.”
Why Cobalt
“I chose to partner with Cobalt because I truly believe it’s the best next step for our team and our customers. What stood out to me was the strength of the companies in their portfolio and the depth of resources they bring—better training, access to larger and more complex projects, new technologies, and support systems that simply weren’t possible for us on our own.
This wasn’t just a financial decision for me; it was about legacy. I care deeply about the people who helped build LEK and the customers who trusted us along the way. I took LEK as far as I could on my own, and I’m proud of that. Now I’m excited to stay on as part of the team and watch Cobalt help take our people and our company to a whole new level.”
